Tools of Bondage

Let's explore what the devil uses to keep us in bondage and remember:

"The devil is a liar"

  1. Secrecy is the number one tool of the devil to keep you in bondage.

The Bible instructs us to "confess your faults one for another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed" James 5:16

But admitting the Porn addiction to someone can be very embarrassing. Wrong

That is exactly the number one lie that the devil has told you and guess what... you believed it. As long as the devil keeps what you are doing in secret from other people then the longer he has to use that sin to destroy your life.

We all know that God knows exactly what we are doing and He is the only one that you should try to please. Also, most of the people that you are going to tell are already addicted as well. Yes it is an epidemic that is only getting worst, remember the statistics.

  2. Condemnation - It is important to expose the devil for who he is. The Bible says in Revelation 12:10 that satan is the accuser of our brothers and that he accuses us before our God day and night.

It is normal to wonder why am I still going through this. Maybe you have asked yourself:

How can I call myself a Christian? Am I a hypocrite...

a sinner, and never worthy of forgiveness? No... you are a son of God and God has put already in you the strength and faith that will be required to overcome this.

    The Bible says:

" There is none righteous, no, not just one." Romans 3:10

You might be facing a giant but who isn't. We all have sinned...yes...all of us. We all have giants and struggles and you will have them until the day you die.

What we are after is the process of sanctification and freedom. So do not look down but always look up... You are a conqueror. You were created in the image of God. You will conquer your enemy and ...

God will deliver satan at the bottom of your sole.

Find strength in this verse "I know thy works; behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and has kept thy word, and hast not denied my name." Revelation 3:8

  3. Deceit

Deceit : The act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating.

Satan, being the master of double truths, has an ability which he has perfected for thousands of years. This ability is to mix truths and lies together and in such a way, feed us the "garbage theories" that he wants us to believe and that We want to believe.

" And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" 2Corinthians 11:14

Satan distorted scripture to confuse Jesus when he was being tempted. Let's face it, all of us at one time or even still today would like and wish that Porn or Lust wasn't a sin because we enjoyed it. Let's be real... I have been there. So we are going to try to justify it however we can. We will manipulate the Bible, distort truths that we know, and ignore others.

In essence, we, together with satan, through that phase of our lives, have one common purpose even if we are Christians - to come up with a theory that takes away our guilt and makes it okay to indulge into Lust and Porn. Yes... you are thinking of it and the Devil is giving you the material and lies to justify it. You have probably gone out of your way to find any data that supports your behavior and wishfully ignored what the Bible really says. If you are really good then you have manipulated the Bible to a degree that the behavior is now acceptable or have told yourself that you are not perfect and that as long as you are working on it. That it is ok. The problem is that it has been ten years since you said that.

Do not get me wrong... progress is good but using it as an excuse is a lie from the Devil.

We can not go any further if you are still justifiying Lust. Hopefully you have defeated the lies already and know that lust = sin no matter what. If you have not and I understand if you are not there yet, because I was there. So...in either case you are going to need to go to your Bible for truth and repentance.

You must humble yourself and admit that this behavior is not okay.

In order to move forward you must HATE your sin and LOVE God with all your heart. I will repeat the previous sentence over and over because you just heard one of the principles to overcome your addiction.

    Yes ... I said Hate...

  4. Justification- As long as you keep blocking the conviction of the Holy Spirit you will not break the addiction. Not only that, your heart will wax shut and you will no longer be able to listen to God and His Spirit the more you ignore Him.

  5. Environment - You will be led to believe that you can't take yourself away from an environment that leads to temptation. It is crucial that you avoid any activity that leads you to temptation. I am not going to go into details; you know what these activities are. You need to identify them and avoid, get rid off, remove, etc. or whatever else you need to do, to stop doing them.

The Bible says "If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." Mathew 5:26

  6. Doubt - The creation of doubt by manipulating scripture and feeding you lies.

That is exactly what satan did when he tried to tempt Jesus on Mathew Chapter 4. He will take advantage of things that you do not completely understand or know and use them to present God to you in a way that God seems to be over controlling, manipulating, and arrogant. He will use your weakness in Scripture against you and tap into areas that have not yet been revealed to you to create confusion. I can't begin to imagine what lies has he been working on you but whatever it is, confront it with the Word of God and be honest to yourself. The Word will reveal the only truth which most times you already know.

Rebuke these evil thoughts of doubt in the name of Jesus and confront them by reciting Scripture. Remember what Jesus did when He was tempted.

He recited Scripture. It is powerful and the devil fears it.

  7. Arguments

Yes, what a perfect scenario to justify your actions when you get into an argument with your wife over anything.

The one the Devil likes the best is when you argue about sex. Do not take the bait and think that you are going to give yourself satisfaction if your wife turns you down or if you just want to get even with her. It is a perfect setup.

You need to realize to who do you belong and what the real fight is about. It is not between you and your wife. The Bible says:

we are fighting against principalities and rulers of darkness. This fight is over your future.

A future of purpose and freedom with Jesus or a life of bondage with Satan.

I am not saying that you are not going to be saved if you have struggles, it is not for me to figure that out. We are all saved by grace, there is none righteous, not just one. What we are trying to achieve is God's intent; an abundant life here on Earth free of bondage.

Be very careful because the Bible prophesises that...

" men will be lovers of pleasure rather than God" 2Timothy 3:4

Do not let this addiction destroy you and let's defeat it in Jesus name.
