Recovery Steps
Before we start, I want you to know that God is going to set you free.If you will believe it with your mind and confess it with your mouth you will be set free.
His Words are words of Power, use them I pray. Believe........ you just have to believe. He has already determined your deliverance and you will be set free.
Please understand that:
You are incapable of overcoming this addiction on your own.
Only through the power of God you will be set free. If you are here then you know you failed to overcome this on your own and if not; you are not ready yet to be set free.
I pray to God that He brings out the strength that is already in you to overcome impossibilities and defeat your Giants.
- Step 1 : This is one of the most important steps of them all. If you do not feel it in your heart
what I am about to tell you then you are not ready to be set free yet. Here we go... You must :
- Hate Your Sin with all your heart
- Love God with all your heart
In order to be completely free you must hate your sin and repent of it. You might say.....Well.. with enough will power and a few prayers I can abstain from Lust ! And although that is true, it will only last for a short season. Eventually you will fall again.
Why?... because you like it.
The bible says that " men will be lovers of pleasure rather than God" 2Timothy 3:4
I am not saying that you are not supposed to be attracted to women or men. What I am saying is that you should not look forward to lust after them.

- Step 2 : Be led by the Holy Spirit.
As a born again Christian you have received the Holy Spirit which guides you through life into all truth, warns you when you are about to commit sin, and convicts you when you do for repentance.
The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will "teach you all things, and bring all things to your rememberance"

Jesus Said:
"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Mathew 16:19
Let's pray:
Lord, I bow down to my knees and repent of my sins for I have transgressed against you. I have turned a blind eye to your Word and have taken advantage of your mercy. I ask you now to forgive me and redeem me from this lust that has captivated me. I want to turn my life to you Oh Lord. You are my only King, and I shall worship you. I refuse to be in bondage to sin.
I now bind lust and pornography and I declare it finished by the Power of the Blood shed in all seven places by your Son Jesus Christ " The anointed one " . Yes, I break the curse of lust & release freedom in every area of my life. I cast my sinful desires to hell and declare that I am now free because it is written " who the son sets free is free in deed " ... I receive it and declare it because Jesus already paid the penalty for my sins and was bruised for my iniquities. I also ask you Lord to help me restore my memory and my heart so it will be fresh and clean of all the images that I have consumed. Let my body be your temple ohh Lord and above all; let your kingdom come and your will be done here in Earth as it is in Heaven. To you be the Glory forever and ever. Amen
- A. Keep the door closed:
We have now in step 3 closed the door to lust and God will honor that but you still have a choice. Are you going to leave the door closed or are you going to open it for a peak?
Remember, once that door is open and you introduce sin back into your life, the sin will multiply and breed more lust which will become overpowering and there goes the cycle again. I understand that there will be times when you are going to be tempted by means of other people, commercials, or whatever. In this case you must use the method of replacement.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2Chorinthians 10:5
"Finally, Brothers, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things " Philippians 4:8
When a thought comes your way, pause it in your head as if you where watching a movie, once paused then you have the ability and authority to judge that thought according to the Word of God. Once that thought is judged righteously, then either receive it if it is pure or bind it and cast it out in the name of Jesus.
Then you can quickly replace that thought with one that gives honor to God. For example : last time you helped someone or prayed or even the last time you thanked God for that big fish you got. You have to understand that you have authority over that thought and either receive it into your heart or cast it out.
See the thought for what it is: a bait to get you hooked...
into the addiction and despise it. If you cannot get the thought out and it starts breeding to more lust then quickly find a place were you can pray to God to remove the lust and if possible at that time, read the Bible or listen to Christian music. Remember that the longer that thought stays on your head the stronger it will become.
I repeat, you must get rid of it as fast as you can. The moment you allow that thought in... that is the moment that you have surrendered to the sin in your heart and to the devices of the devil. This is very important if you want to overcome this. You must not give lust any place into your mind and heart.
For example: If you feel an urge to look at a sexually explicit ad in a magazine, do not look. If you do, then the desire will become stronger and you will look at something else, and something else, and before you know it, the desire has become exceedingly strong and it will manifest itself with you engaging into Porn. So instead, recognize the bait, and choose to ignore it.
Let me warn you... right now, what I just said sounds very simple and you might agree with it, but I guarantee you, that when you are in that situation the devil will try to convince you that you can handle a "simple look", just one glimpse, and the worst part is that you will also want to believe it. Please... do not take the bait brothers and sisters.
The bible says:
" when you sin repent quickly " & "be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" Romans 12:2
Brothers and sisters in God. Understand that God will honor His promise to free you but the question remains ...are you going to choose freedom?.....If you continue to allow lustful thoughts into your heart and mind, you will loose the fight. The battlegroud is the mind. That is where the battles are fought.
- B. Anticipate attacks.
You must get an understanding of how the devil works by your own experiences in order to be able to predict what makes you fall. Start keeping a diary and make notes of your falls, learn from your mistakes.
Once identified avoid them or replace them with something that gives honor to God. If late TV shows tempt you then get rid of the cable or go to sleep early. If the internet is what gets you then get rid of it for a while until you get the upper hand.
Once you are free you will be able to get it again.
Never be over confident.
Anticipate the attacks, embrace them, and be prepared to overcome them.
- C. Overconfidence is a lie from the devil.
Never test yourself... you will fail. Remember step 4a. You will be opening the door to lust. Regardless... temptation will always find you. You will get a chance to show off and remind the devil who's are you when temptation comes. The Bible says:
"My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work , that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing" James 1:2-4
Do not be eager to find out if you have defeated your addiction yet. You can always become enslaved again, sin will always exist while we are alive. Look at it as this: When we closed the door what we actually did was stop the delivery of food to the spirit of lust.Without food the lust will eventually die...
but if you keep opening the door to feed him bits and pieces, then you will revive him again after being almost dead. Let the lust starve to death and in this way be set free.
- D. Dispose of all tempting material.
This should be obvious. If it is not, then you either are still in love with your sin or ...you are still in love with your sin.

I can not emphasize how important this is. We overcome all things through prayer and fasting. The power of God is the power of the Word "The Bible" You must make God a daily commitment. Sing to him, pray, praise Him, read the Bible, follow Him, allow Him to use you, develop a relationship with Him. Make time for all these things brothers and sisters. Not just to overcome pornography but they should be your highest priority in your Christian life. Thank God for every day He gives you, thank him for allowing you to exist, and thank him for freedom.
You must sometimes force the flesh because lets admit it...we are lazy by nature. The Bible says that " the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be". Romans 8:7
We must force ourselves until it becomes a habit. In time you will find yourself looking forward to this with all your heart and mind. I can see your light at the end of the tunnel. You will overcome this. The Bible says:
" be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God that passes all understanding , shall keep your minds and hearts through Christ Jesus " Philippians 4:6-7
Yes... I know it sounds embarrassing but this is crucial. Once you realize that most Christian men are suffering with the same problems then you will be liberated. The devil wants you to believe that you are the only one that is going through this. That is a lie. Remember the statistics. I even think the numbers are much higher because it seems so embarrassing and uncomfortable for people to admit.
Find a Christian friend of the same sex that you can trust and tell them about your problem. Ask him/her to keep you accountable and pray with you. I confessed to my wife directly before I told any friends. I asked her to write about her experience which I will post later. I was shocked at her understanding and grace. Folks...God reveals things to our life partners...more things that we are aware of and remember ... we all have our own struggles, including your wife or husband.
This will be an opportunity for her to bring some of her struggles out to the light as well.
The devil dwells and strives in darkness...
and wants to keep you in bondage by keeping you shut. He wants to keep you in the shadows because the moment that you bring light to your issues, that's the moment when recovery will start. Besides every thought you ever had is very well known to God. All sins eventually will be brought to the light. Do not hesitate to confess your sins. Jesus said that in the world you shall have tribulation but to be of good cheer for He overcame the world and He has given us that power so be ready and get ready for war and do not fear and stand firm.
" For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. " 2 Tim 1:7
What are we fighting?
" For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:12-13How are we to prepare for the fight?

Who is commanding our strength ?
" Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. " 2 Chr 20:15The Lord is going to fight our battle but we are also part of the army. David relied on God to defeat Goliath but he still had to show up and prepare for the fight. You have to do your part.
Also....God is going to free you and fight your battle but you still have freedom of choice. Are you going to make friends with the enemy?
Are you willing to stand firm?
The same way Moses lead Israel righteously out of their captivity in Egypt but after that: The same people of Israel rebelled against God. That's why it took them forty years to enter the promised land. This promised land is where God wants to take you.
Do not let the devil take control of your life any more. Let's end it once and for all. Remember...
the Lord is with you when you are with him.
Let's shut the door and not open it again and let's go to war over this addiction and all future strongholds of the Devil.
Let us be faithful to our Lord and watch Him deliver us.
We must understand that Jesus has already shed His blood to redeem your Will Power and redeem you from the penalty of this sin, this iniquity that drives you from the inside.
Jesus will deliver you, it is already done, but like I said before... it is not the truth that sets us free but the truth that we understand. Once we understand that the blood
of Jesus was already shed for us, then our faith will be strengthened and we will know 100% that He will deliver us.
Only at this point we can step back and stop trying to fight this with our own strength
and allow God to do the fighting for us. Only then will you feel peace from this warfare and everyday struggle. We will then literally be able to see and rejoice with God as He delivers us and fights for us.
Let us enjoy this beautiful victory... stay firm...and enjoy His deliverance, for we are conquerors in Christ
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5
